Project Overview and Key Design Considerations
Colorobbia India, a subsidiary of the renowned Italian Gruppo Colorobbia, established this facility to localize the production of high-end raw materials for the ceramic industry. The plant is engineered to manufacture a complex array of products, including pigments, compound glazes, granular frits, and specialized digital inks.
The structural design addresses the heavy-duty requirements of ball mills and mixing tanks used in frit and glaze production. We prioritized specialized chemical-resistant flooring and advanced drainage systems to handle the unique demands of chemical manufacturing.
Given the precision required for digital ink production, we integrated climate-controlled, dust-free environments to maintain the purity of the chemical compounds.

VMS Scope and Project Outcomes
VMS provided integrated Architectural, Structural, and MEPF Engineering services to translate Colorobbia’s global manufacturing standards into this Sanand facility. Our scope included the design of complex utility piping for chemical handling and precise thermal management systems for the frit-firing sections. Our electrical infrastructure was designed to support 24/7 automated batching and mixing processes.
The successful commissioning of this plant has allowed Colorobbia to significantly reduce lead times for Indian ceramic manufacturers. With our multidisciplinary approach, we were able to balance industrial efficiency with strict environmental and safety compliance.
