Project Overview and Key Design Considerations

Gujarat Tea Processors and Packers Limited (GTPPL), widely known by its flagship brand Wagh Bakri, is the third-largest packaged tea company in India with a strong national and international footprint. Building on their existing manufacturing facilities in Dholka and Kheda, GTPPL is establishing a state-of-the-art greenfield tea processing complex in Dakor, Gujarat. The Phase 1 development spans a total built-up area of 26,363 sq. mt.

The architectural and structural planning focuses on housing high-capacity tea blending units, high-speed automated packaging lines, and temperature-controlled raw material warehouses. A major highlight of the design is the integration of an Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS), engineered to manage high-volume tea chest storage efficiently. The main plant building was designed to accommodate strict food-safety protocols (FSSC/ISO standards), featuring dust-extraction systems for tea-blending halls and seamless, non-porous floor coatings suitable for food-grade processing.

VMS Scope and Project Outcomes

VMS served as the Architectural and Engineering Design Consultant for this major FMCG venture. Our scope encompasses Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Protection, HVAC, and Plumbing (MEPF) design, alongside comprehensive Procurement Support.

Our structural team engineered deep-span Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) sections and high-tolerance concrete slabs essential for the smooth operation of vertical ASRS cranes and heavy material-handling equipment. Additionally, our MEP engineers developed specialized HVAC systems to maintain optimal humidity levels, preserving the freshness and aromatic quality of the tea leaves.
