Human Resources
In addition to the Key Personnel, VMS employs more than forty technical
civil and structural design engineers, construction engineers and quantity surveyors, architectural assistants and draftsmen.
Office Infrastructure
VMS has an excellent work infrastructure. We have developed specialized as well as general nature software for
civil/structural engineering and project management services. The programs developed are both for routine applications
as well as for solving special problems such as design of chimneys, floor plates, dynamic machinery foundations for
turbo generators, hammer foundations, etc.
Apart from the custom software, VMS also has licenses for international design applications such as STAAD-PRO, SAP-90, ETABS, etc.
Early adoption of computers allowed VMS to develop innovative solutions. Almost 40% saving in the
structural steel being used in a normal sugar factory was achieved by using open-web portal structures as against
conventional solid sections way back in 1970. This was largely possible due to the use of computerized analysis
even in those early days. Similarly, exact analysis and optimum designs on computers at pre-tendering stage have helped
bidders to get valuable contracts on turnkey projects like 220 m high RCC TV towers, chimneys and so forth.
Development of its own design aids, development of roofing profiles of light gauge steel, studies on transmitting
antennas for rural TV are some of the highlights of R & D work carried out at the center.
Library
We have a well-stocked library with over 1000 books and publications on civil engineering. We possess all relevant
national and international codes.
